| The Family Brass is a project conceived by Ian
Stott in collaboration with Martin Prynn (Composer) and Oliver Watson
(Artist) as a composition that involves the intended audience (children), grabs their attention and encourages them to
perform as well as introducing the brass family to them.
As an ensemble Chameleon Brass work extensively in education and felt that rather than playing to the children they should be involved in working towards a concert, often the first they have been in. Composer Martin Prynn was given the brief to create a work of around 25 minutes that involves a journey, each instrument having its own theme that the children sing and each instrument becoming a character:
He has done this admirably and also included music and movement actions for Key Stage Two. Also included is a narrator holding the chaos together for a thoroughly entertaining evening! Also included in the project are illustrations by talented young artist Oliver Watson that help to bring the piece to life. |
